CANS-NY Training Series

CANS-NY Introductory Training​

This course teaches the Transformational Collaborative Outcomes Management (TCOM) framework and the reliable use of the CANS-NY to identify and support the care management needs of children and their families.

  1. Login at tcomtraining.com
  2. Select Training -> Curricula.
  3. Locate “CANS-NY Introductory Training”.
  4. Complete the pre-training quiz.
  5. Select the step for CANS-NY Introductory Training.
  6. Click “register” for the offering on the dates/times of your choice.
  7. Complete Post Training Poll and Post Training Quiz.
  8. Complete Certification for CANS-NY 0-5 and 6-21.


Note that selecting a training series commits you to 2 live virtual sessions that must be completed in order.

  2. Select Training -> Curricula.
  3. Locate “CANS-NY Introductory Training”.
  4. Select the step for CANS-NY Introductory Training.
  5. Click the selected date and time you registered for.
  6. Hover over the “Unregister Users” Icon and click on the icon.
  7. Click on “Deregister” and go back to the selected course to select a future date and time.

CANS-NY Recertification Training

This annually required half-day webinar session reviews principles of reliable rating to support user’s preparing to recertify.

  1. Login at tcomtraining.com
  2. Select Training -> Curricula.
  3. Locate “CANS-NY Recertification 2025”.
  4. Complete the pre-training quiz.
  5. Click “register” for the offering on the dates/times of your choice.
  6. Complete Post Training Poll and Post Training Quiz.
  7. Complete Certification for CANS-NY 0-5 and 6-21.
 
 

Building Engagement with Youth and Families

This course explores strategies to engage with families, focusing on transparency, building trust, and capturing the family’s story. 

1. Login to tcomtraining.com
2. Select Training -> Curricula. 
3. Locate Course: Building Engagement with Youth and Families.
4. Complete the pre-training quiz. 
5. Click “register” for the offering on the dates/times of your choice. 

CANS-NY A Quality Plan of Care

This practice-focused session helps care managers and their supervisors to connect the CANS-NY to the care planning process.  Attendees will apply the skills of building a Plan of Care in collaboration with children, youth, and their families.

2. Select Training -> Curricula. 
3. Locate Course: Building a Person-Centered Plan of Care.

NOTE: Building Engagement with Youth and Families is a prerequisite for this course.

4. Complete the pre-training quiz. 
5. Click “register” for the offering on the dates/times of your choice. 

CANS-NY Supervisory Training

This course supports supervisors to develop or deepen collaborative assessment skills including strategies for developing the skills of their supervisees.

4. Complete the pre-training quiz.
